Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hae virtually convened the 3rd Higher Education Recovery Committee on November 4 to discuss ways to safely administer this year's CSAT, the national college entrance examination, and to make gradual recovery efforts in the higher education sector.

The first agenda item on the committee was on how to manage disease control activities in universities for 2022 CSAT and other college entrance pathways.

In order to administer this year's CSAT safely without confusion on November 18, plans for responding to COVID-19 infection were broadly shared among universities.

Also, to prepare for the large movement of CSAT test-takers who will be criss-crossing the country to sit wide-ranging admission tests individually administerd by universities, which will mostly begin three weeks after the day of CSAT, the government explained its plans to prepare for thorough disease control measures and to guarantee that all students, regardless of whether they are tested positive or negative or in quarantine, are treated equally when they sit CSAT.

The second agenda item on the committee was to track how stepwise recovery in higher education was progressing.

In a bid to successfully implement the "Plan for Stepwise Recovery in Education" announced on October 29, relevant tasks under the plan were elaborated in detail at the committee to raise general understanding.

In addition, further measures to support colleges and universities around the country were discussed to set the direction of overall assistance going forward after hearing the difficulties they were experiencing on the ground.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hae said, "I'd like to ask you to take every necessary measure to ensure that all students are treated equally in CSAT, whatever their health status may be, so that they can be given the same opportunity as much as they deserve."

She also added, "Although each college is in different circumstances, I'd like to ask you to meticulously support all efforts to bring ordinary daily life back to our students as safely as possible."
