On July 22, Vice Minister Jang Sang-yoon visited the Semi-conductor Technology Education Center at Daelim University College. The visit was a follow-up to the announcement of the Government's plan to cultivate talent in the semi-conductor sector on July 19, and was organized to monitor the curriculum for semi-conductor education and relevant projects, as well as to listen to the voices on the ground.

During his visit, he observed a demonstration class and checked how projects designed to nurture new industries are being implemented, including their curricula. After that, he took time to listen to those on the ground with regard to fostering highly-skilled workforce for new industries, including the semi-conductor sector.

Vice Minister Jang said, "I'm aware that the announcement of the Government's plan to cultivate talent in the semi-conductor sector has received mixed response." He added, "When it comes to the concern that if universities are allowed to increase their enrollment size, the majority of students will choose to flock only to schools in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, I'd like to say that the Government aims to fully support any schools, regardless of whether they are in the Seoul Metropolitan Area or not, as long as they have strong initiative and capacity. In particular, colleges outside of the Seoul Metropolitan Area will be offered greater financial incentives once they are designated as specialized schools, and they will also be supported with their establishment of infrastructure for semi-conductor education."
