The Ministry of Education (Minister Choi Kyo-Jin) and the National Institute for Lifelong Education (President Kim Wol-yong) will host the first-half 2026 event on June 16, at the Peace & Park Convention in the War Memorial of Korea, Seoul. The event will be attended by approximately 200 administrators and teachers from schools with high populations of students with migrant backgrounds.

With the number of students with migrant backgrounds enrolled in elementary, middle, and high schools exceeding 200,000 ? accounting for 4% of the total student body ? the number of schools accommodating students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds is on the rise.

This exchange event aims to build a nationwide cooperative network by bringing together school administrators (principals and vice-principals), teachers, and education officials to share field experiences and best practices, and to discuss effective curriculum management strategies.

To explore practical educational support measures for students with migrant backgrounds, the program will feature:

An overview of policies for supporting students with migrant backgrounds

Sharing of best practices in curriculum operation

Information on regional cooperative agencies and available services

Networking sessions for inter-school exchange

“As more schools see students from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds learning together in the same classroom, the support needed in the field is becoming increasingly diverse,” said Noh Jin-young, Director General of the Student Support Bureau at the Ministry of Education. “We will maintain close communication with schools and strengthen customized education policies to create classrooms where differences turn into harmony.”
