The Ministry of Education (Minister Choi Kyo-jin) and the Ministry of Justice (Minister Chung Sung-ho) will announce the results of the "2025 Education Internationalization Competency Accreditation and Fact-finding Survey on the Recruitment and Management of International Students" on February 13.

Since 2012, these annual joint evaluations have been conducted to bolster the internationalization capabilities of universities and prevent side effects such as illegal stays, in response to the rising number of international students in Korea*.

? Education Internationalization Competency Accreditation: This system grants "Accredited University" status to applicant institutions that pass a rigorous screening process, providing them with various visa processing benefits. The accreditation is valid for four years (Mar. 2026 ? Feb. 2030). However, the status can be revoked if a university fails to meet the standards during the required annual monitoring sessions.

? Fact-finding Survey on International Student Management: This survey is conducted for all non-accredited universities hosting at least one international student. Institutions that fail to meet the required criteria will face sanctions regarding student visa issuance and screening.
