On March 23, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-Ho attended the meeting of the National and Public University Presidents, the first of its kind since the beginning of this year, at Chungnam National University. The meeting convened 34 presidents from around the country, and Deputy PM Lee discussed imminent issues at hand in higher education and listened to the recommendations made by the presidents. Deputy PM Lee said, "I anticipate the national and public universities to act as the center for national human capital development to leverage regional innovation and meet regional demands." He concluded, "The Ministry of Education will focus its efforts to shore up innovation in higher education institutions, and closely communicate with them throughout the process."
