On June 8, the Ministry of Education unveiled the “AI Digital Textbook Promotion Plan” at the Seoul Government Complex. This plan aims to advance the Ministry’s digital transformation efforts in the field of education by promoting the use of AI digital textbooks. Starting in 2025, these textbooks will be introduced for subjects such as math, English, informatics and Korean (special education). In 2028, the initiative will expand to include subjects like Korean, social studies, history, science, and technology/home economics. The implementation of AI digital textbooks will bring numerous benefits. Notably, these textbooks will offer customized learning content tailored to individual student data, enhancing their personalized learning experience. Additionally, features such as screen captions, subtitles, and multi-linguistic translations will be available to cater to the needs of students and teachers in special education, as well as those with multicultural backgrounds.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-Ho emphasized the significance of the AI digital textbooks by stating, “By harnessing the power of AI digital textbooks in our communication and learning, we can achieve the vision of ‘personalized education for all’”.
