Dr. Hang Sik Park, President of the National Science Museum, announced the museum’s plan to host the 13th Annual Conference of Asia Pacific Network of Science Centres (ASPAC 2013). The ASPAC was formed in 1997, and more than 60 science centers in 20 countries are members to this network. The network holds annual conferences where members share latest information on science exhibitions, education, and events.

The ASPAC 2013 will be held at the National Science Museum in Daejeon from 6 to 10 May, 2013, themed “New Vision and Leadership of Science Museums: Communication between Science Museums and Society.”

The event is expected to be attended by more than 300 participants, including domestic and foreign science museum experts. Various lectures, workshops, presentation sessions will take place under the topics of “science education outside schools,” “raising public awareness on global science and technology issues,” “promoting creativity through interaction between art and science,” and “sustainable development of science museums.” Session presenters will be selected through an open call to members.

The National Science Museum is also planning to hold a special exhibition on Korea’s science and technology development, with the aim of promoting Korea’s achievements among general public and member museums. Dr. Park said he and the museum will spare no efforts in preparing for the event.
